Postlarvae and juveniles of the tarakihi (teleostei: Cheilodactylidae) in New Zealand
New Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research, 1972Abstract The postlarval metamorphosis of the tarakihi Cheilodactylus macropterus (Bloch and Schneider) takes place in New Zealand waters in spring or early summer (October‐December), when the fish are 70–90 mm long and 9–12 months old.

Speed and Direction of Swimming by Postlarvae of the American Lobster
Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, 1989Abstract The postlarva (larval stage IV) of the American lobster Homarus americanus is very different in form and behavior from earlier larval stages. Recruitment to the benthic population occurs during the postlarval period. Field observations in Rhode Island nearshore waters showed most postlarvae to be swimming in northerly to easterly directions ...

Effects of High pH on Macrobrachium rosenbergii Postlarvae
1984By adjusting pH through additions of NaOH solution (~.8N), the response of recently metamorphosed Macrobrachium rosenbergii postlarvae to pH values ranging from 7.5 to 12.0 was determined. At pH 9.0 weak animals and subsequent mortalities were observed. At pH 9.5 or greater, mass mortalities occurred.

On the Occurrence of grey mullet postlarvae off Plymouth
Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, 1971Seven postlarvae and one juvenile of the golden mullet and two postlarvae of the thicklipped mullet, ranging from 60 to 27 mm and from 14-88 to 21-44 mm in length respectively, were found in plankton collections taken in the Plymouth area on 10 October and 14 November 1969.

Behavioural responses of competent lobster postlarvae to odor plumes
Marine Biology, 1993We determined the ability of competent laboratory-reared Homarus americanus postlarvae to use odor plumes as a potential mechanism of orientation during the habitat selection process at settlement. In a Y-maze apparatus, both swimming direction (upstream or downstream) and arm selection (control or experimental) were strongly influenced by the nature ...

The exposure of herring postlarvae to chlorine in coastal power stations
Marine Environmental Research, 1986Abstract Chlorine, used to control bio fouling in coastal power station, sea water cooling circuits, is also toxic to non fouling marine organisms. Experiments quantified the toxicity of power station cooling water to postlarval Atlantic herring Clupea harengus L.

Use of Allozyme Electrophoresis for identifying two species of Penaeid Prawn Postlarvae
Australian Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research, 1990Allozyme electrophoresis was used to identify the postlarvae of two species of tiger prawns, Penaeus esculentus and P. semisulcatus, from the Gulf of Carpentaria, Australia. The two species were examined for genetic differences at 39 loci, in three developmental stages (adult, juvenile and postlarval).

Panulirus argus postlarva performance fed with fresh squid
