Histological and miRNAs postmortem changes in incisional wound

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Forensic Sciences, 2019
Background Regarding postmortem estimation, the evaluation of early histological and miRNA molecular changes have been of great concerns among forensic scientists due to uncertainty of known conventional methods.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

A Systematic Review About Postmortem Pink Teeth: Forensic Classification, Diagnostic Value, and Analysis Methods

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background: The phenomenon of pink teeth represents a notable observation in forensic science, although its interpretation remains complex and not directly attributable to a specific cause of death. Methods: This systematic review provides an updated and

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Regional thalamic neuropathology in patients with hippocampal sclerosis and epilepsy: A postmortem study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Purpose Clinical, experimental, and neuroimaging data all indicate that the thalamus is involved in the network of changes associated with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), particularly in association with hippocampal sclerosis (HS), with potential roles in ...

Advantages of Postmortem Angiography in the Daily Routine of Legal Medicine

open access: yes, 2016
If applied by an experienced team, postmortem CT angiography (PMCTA) has a number of advantages, most of which have been explained in detail in earlier sections of this book.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Metagenomic identification of pathogenic bacteria for pneumonia from postmortem lung tissue

open access: yesHuman Pathology Reports, 2022
Pathologists have been concerned about the validity of bacterial cultures from lung tissue for the postmortem identification of pneumonia-associated pathogens. Therefore, we studied whether pathogenic bacteria that cause pneumonia could be identified via

THE ESTIMATION OF THE TIME SINCE DEATH

open access: yesZdravniški Vestnik, 2002
Background. The retrograde estimation of the time since death is still unsuccessfully solved problem in forensic medicine. The registration of the time of death is the principle task of every coroner.
