Short‐term intravenous treatments with iPSC‐derived mononuclear phagocytes (iMPs) improve cognitive decline and neural health in two mouse models of aging and in the 5xFAD mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. iMPs reduce levels of serum amyloid proteins that increase in aging and improve the health of hippocampal microglia and mossy cells.

Resonant spike propagation in coupled neurons with subthreshold activity
Màster en Biofísica, curs 2006-2007Chemical coupling between neurons is only active when the presynaptic neuron is firing, and thus it does not allow for the propagation of subthreshold activity.

Information in neural networks is represented as weighted connections, or synapses, between neurons. This poses a problem as the primary computational bottleneck for neural networks is the vector-matrix multiply when inputs are multiplied by the neural ...

We demonstrate that Foxp1± mice, modeling FOXP1 haploinsufficiency, exhibit behavioral deficits, striatal neuroinflammatory changes including altered microglial complexity and synaptic pruning, and markedly reduced Pde10a expression. Pde10a inhibition starting immediately after birth restores Foxp1± behavior, microglial morphology, and pruning ...

Circardian rhythm disorder (CRD) causes abnormal expression of intestinal Period 2 (Per2) gene, which compromising intestinal barrier integrity and altering the gut microenvironment. Microbiota dysbiosis and aberrant metabolites production drive central inflammation, impair neurogenesis, and promote functional deficits, ultimately facilitating the ...

Long Term High‐Salt Diet Induces Cognitive Impairments via Down‐Regulating SHANK1
The study identifies a novel mechanistic link between long‐term HS diet and cognitive impairment, wherein PKA/CREB axis inactivation leads to SHANK1 reduction, synaptic damage, and cognitive deficits. Abstract High‐salt (HS) diet is an established risk factor for cognitive impairment, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

Network Plasticity as Bayesian Inference
General results from statistical learning theory suggest to understand not only brain computations, but also brain plasticity as probabilistic inference. But a model for that has been missing.

Epigenetic Regulation of DAPK1 and Netrin‐1 Drives Diabetic Encephalopathy
This study identifies a microRNA (miR)‐216a‐5p/death‐associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1)/hepatocyte nuclear factor 1 homeobox A (HNF1A)/Netrin‐1 signaling axis in diabetic encephalopathy (DE). In leptin receptor‐deficient (db/db) and streptozotocin (STZ)‐induced diabetic mice, reduced miR‐216a‐5p increases DAPK1 expression, disrupting HNF1A binding to ...
