Absence of photoemission from the Fermi level in potassium intercalated picene and coronene films: structure, polaron or correlation physics? [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Chem. Phys. 136, 134503 (2012), 2012
The electronic structure of potassium intercalated picene and coronene films has been studied using photoemission spectroscopy. Picene has additionally been intercalated using sodium. Upon alkali metal addition core level as well as valence band photoemission data signal a filling of previously unoccupied states of the two molecular materials due to ...

Soman induces endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis of cerebral organoids via the GRP78‐ATF6‐CHOP signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cerebral organoids were employed as a novel model to explore the neurotoxicity of soman. Soman inhibited acetylcholinesterase activity, increased cell apoptosis and upregulated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress markers glucose‐regulated protein 78 (GRP78), activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) and C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP).

Genotypic variation in Na, K and their ratio in 45 commercial cultivars of Indian tropical onion: A pressing need to reduce hypertension among the population

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition, 2023
The intake of diets with higher sodium (Na) and lower potassium (K) has been considered a leading factor for the development of hypertension (HTN). Majority of junk, processed and packaged food have higher Na contents.

Modulation Transfer Spectroscopy of the D1 Transition of Potassium: Theory and Experiment [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
We report on a study of modulation transfer spectroscopy of the $4\textrm{S}_{1/2}\rightarrow 4\textrm{P}_{1/2}$ ($D_{1}$) transition of naturally abundant potassium in a room-temperature vapour cell. This transition is critical for laser cooling and optical pumping of potassium and our study is therefore motivated by the need for robust laser ...

Progressive Myoclonus Epilepsy: Distinctive MRI Changes in Cerebellar and Motor Networks

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Progressive myoclonus epilepsy (PME) is a rare generalized epilepsy syndrome with a well‐characterized genetic basis. The brain networks that are affected to give rise to the distinctive symptoms of PME are less well understood. Methods Eleven individuals with PME with a confirmed genetic diagnosis and 22 controls were studied.

Murine Models and Human Cell Line Models to Study Altered Dynamics of Ovarian Follicles in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The manuscript examines preclinical murine and human models to study polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), delving into the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying altered ovarian follicular dynamics. It explores the cellular interactions involved in normal and PCOS ovaries and outlines the current and novel strategies in the search for preclinical ...

The Effect of Harvest Time on Macro Nutrient Concentrations in Sorghum x Sudangrass Hybrid and Sudangrass Varieties

open access: yesTürkiye Tarımsal Araştırmalar Dergisi, 2020
In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of harvest time on some mineral contents in sorghum x sudangrass hybrids (Sorghum bicolor x Sorghum sudanense Stapf) and sudangrass [Sorghum sudanense (Piper) Stapf] cultivars grown as a second crop. In

A Fluorescent Ratiometric Potassium Sensor Based on IPG4-Silica Microparticles for Selective Detection and Fluorescence Imaging of Potassium Cations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Materials Chemistry B 2024,10573
Potassium cations play many important roles in living organisms, especially in electro-physiology, since they are involved in neurotransmission and muscle contractions. We report the synthesis of a ratiometric fluorescent microsensor for potassium (K+) detection, based on the fluorescent probe ION potassium green 4.

Structural and electronic changes of pentacene induced by potassium doping [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. B 95, 134112 (2017), 2017
Potassium is introduced into the crystalline herringbone structure of pentacene searching for a compound showing metallic electronic transport properties and, hopefully, superconductivity at small enough temperatures. Several possible structures for stoichiometric KPentacene (1:1), K2Pentacene (2:1) and K3Pentacene (3:1) compounds are theoretically ...
