Potato Virus Y (PVY) Purification and Antiserum Preparation

open access: yesIOSR Journal of Agriculture and Veterinary Science, 2014
This study included identification, purificationand antiserum preparation of potato virus Y (PVY). Positive reaction of PVY diagnosis using DAS-ELISA was characterized by yellow color. The results of spectrometrical tests indicated the good purification of the virus using differential centrifugation, precipitation and filtration techniques.

Potential and limitations of plant virus epidemiology: lessons from the Potato virus Y pathosystem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Plant virus epidemiology provides powerful tools to investigate key factors that contribute to virus epidemics in agricultural crops. When successful, epidemiological approaches help to guide decisions regarding plant protection strategies.

Identification and Molecular Characterization of Recombinant Potato Virus Y (PVY) in Potato from South Korea, PVYNTN Strain [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2019
Potato is an important source of food in South Korea, and viruses represent a significant threat to sustainable and profitable potato production. However, information about viruses affecting the potato crop in South Korea is limited. In 2017, potato plants of five cultivars exhibiting foliar mosaic, crinkling, and mottle were collected in two seed ...

Genetic Diversity of the Ordinary Strain of Potato virus Y (PVY) and Origin of Recombinant PVY Strains [PDF]

open access: yesPhytopathology®, 2011
The ordinary strain of Potato virus Y (PVY), PVYO, causes mild mosaic in tobacco and induces necrosis and severe stunting in potato cultivars carrying the Ny gene. A novel substrain of PVYO was recently reported, PVYO-O5, which is spreading in the United States and is distinguished from other PVYO isolates serologically (i.e., reacting to the ...

The Resistance Responses of Potato Plants to Potato Virus Y Are Associated with an Increased Cellular Methionine Content and an Altered SAM:SAH Methylation Index

open access: yesViruses, 2021
Plant-virus interactions are frequently influenced by elevated temperature, which often increases susceptibility to a virus, a scenario described for potato cultivar Chicago infected with potato virus Y (PVY).

Distribution and incidence of viruses in Irish seed potato crops [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
peer-reviewedVirus diseases are of key importance in potato production and in particular for the production of disease-free potato seed. However, there is little known about the frequency and distribution of potato virus diseases in Ireland.
