Maximum Dynamic Lower-Limb Strength Was Maintained During 24-Week Reduced Training Frequency in Previously Sedentary Older Women

open access: yes, 2018
There is little study into the effects of reducing strength training below the recommended twice weekly frequency, particularly in older women, despite the possibility that individuals will encounter periods of reduced training frequency. The purpose

Potential Use of Metallurgical and Foundry By-Products in High-Strength Concrete

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
This article deals with the potential use of by-products from Třinecké železárny company—namely steelworks slag and spent foundry sand (SFS)—as an alternative to natural aggregate in the production of high-strength concrete.

Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).

Correlations between attaching agility, defensive agility, change of direction speed and reactive strength in Australian footballers

open access: yes, 2015
Agility refers to “a rapid whole-body movement with a change of velocity or direction in response to a stimulus” (10). This is a separate physical quality to change of direction speed (CODS) which refers to rapid changes of direction which do not involve

Single‐cell DNA methylation profiling: Technologies, computation, and applications in precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell DNA methylation (scDNAme) profiling maps epimutational clonal evolution, revealing mechanisms of malignancy and therapeutic resistance across diverse cancer types. By providing a high‐resolution landscape of intratumoral heterogeneity, these technologies empower precise patient stratification, guide the development of enhanced ...

Study on influence of potential gradient on dewatering and consolidation characteristics of fine tailing sand and its mechanism

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
Due to low hydraulic conductivity and poor water permeability, the sand particles of tailings storage pile dams lead to the problems of poor drainage capacity, long consolidation time and low mechanical strength of the pile dams, which are prone to cause

Spatial biology in cancer epigenetics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial epigenomics combines molecular profiling with tissue architecture to reveal how gene regulation is organized within intact tissues. In cancer, these technologies uncover the mechanisms driving tumor heterogeneity and microenvironmental interactions, opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

On the Growth of the Ground-State Binding Energy with Increase in Potential Strength [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Physics, 1969
We study the asymptotic behavior of the ground-state binding energy G(λ) of −Δ + λV as λ → ∞. Unlike the number of bound states, G(λ) does not have a universal power growth as λ → ∞. It is shown, however, that as λ → ∞ for Kato potentials Aλ<G(λ)<Bλ4. Examples are presented for which G ∼ λβ for any 1 < β < 4.
