Multiple Range Potentiometers

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1923
SYNOPSISThe development of the potentiometer is briefly described, with special emphasis on the methods of checking the current against the standard cell and of changing the range. Two designs for double range potentiometers are outlined which permit checking the current while operating on either range and in which the effect of variable factor plug ...

A superfluid potentiometer

Physics Today, 1966
Physicists who work on superfluidity have often “lost their cool” arguing over the meaning or even the existence of certain new effects. Controversy arose because measurements were frequently rough and inconclusive. Now a simple but powerful new technique for studying processes that affect superfluid film flow has been developed, which uses level ...

Using linear potentiometers in place of sine/cosine potentiometers

Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control, 1984
Techniques are described that enable linear potentiometers to perform some of the functions which usually require sine/cosine potentiometers. The primary advantage is lower cost but, in some cases, the use of linear helical (multiturn) potentiometers also permits greater resolution.
