Rheology of cohesive powders in a pilot scale planetary blender [PDF]

open access: yesPowder Technology, 2017
Abstract Powder agitation experiments in a bladed planetary mixer have been performed with the objective of establishing correlations based on dimensionless numbers. Powders of different kind have been studied: free flowing (semolina) and cohesive (lactose, talc and milled sand). Mixtures of free flowing and cohesive powders have also been studied to

Increasing Inter‐Micellar Connectivity Toughens and Imparts Cooling‐Induced Shape Memory in Micellar Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oligomerizing Pluronic triblock copolymers provides a processing strategy for tuning the mechanical properties and stimuli‐responsive behaviors of micellar hydrogels. Varying oligomer fraction produces hydrogels spanning brittle to highly extensible responses; maintaining micellar architectures enables cooling‐induced reverse thermal shape memory and ...

Understanding the structure–function relationship in selected dairy food matrices using material science approaches*

open access: yesJDS Communications
Dairy foods are available in a variety of physical forms, including liquid, semi-solids, and solids. The desired functionality of these foods depends upon the end user application (e.g., viscoelasticity of cheese in high-speed processing, powder rheology

Low to high shear rate powder rheology in a rotational rheometer [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
Characterization techniques are essential for understanding powders’ complex behavior. Among different devices, the Anton Paar Powder Rheometer (MCR-302) was used to characterize high-density polyethylene (HDPE).

Nanofiber‐Supported Decellularized Matrix Membrane Creates a Biomimetic Biochemical and Biophysical Niche for Intestinal Organoid Epithelium

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A nanofiber‐supported decellularized extracellular matrix (NaDE) membrane recreates key biochemical and mechanical features of native intestinal tissue. This platform enables the formation of a more physiologically relevant intestinal epithelium, enhancing stem cell maintenance and promoting diverse cell differentiation.

Chamber‐Specific Decellularized Extracellular Matrices Differentially Modulate Cardiomyocyte Subtypes to Drive Engineered Heart Tissue Development and Function

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Chamber‐specific decellularized extracellular matrices (ECMs) were developed, preserving native proteomic profiles of ventricular and atrial myocardium. These innate biochemical cues differentially modulate cardiomyocyte subtypes to drive engineered heart tissue development and function, highlighting the importance of incorporating regional ECM cues in

Effect of dispersion parameters on the consolidation of starch-loaded hydroxyapatite slurry [PDF]

open access: yesProcessing and Application of Ceramics, 2014
The influence of some parameters controlling the hydroxyapatite (HA) suspension rheology in terms of heat treatment of the HA powder prior to suspension preparation, suspension solid loading and the amount of corn starch addition was thoroughly ...

Torque rheology of zircon feedstocks for powder injection moulding [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Ceramic Society, 2012
In this work, a cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) blend is used as the binder system in a zirconium silicate mineral powder feedstock for powder injection moulding. These irregular zircon powders make the mixing process and the selection of an optimal solid loading level a difficult task.

Gellan Gum Fluid Gel System for Controlled‐Delivery of Cytokine‐Licensed MSC‐EVs to Enhance Corneal Repair in Limbal Stem Cell Deficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gellan gum fluid gel (FG) enables controlled ocular delivery of mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC)‐derived extracellular vesicles (EV). Its shear‐thinning, solid‐liquid‐solid rheology ensures prolonged ocular retention. Sustained MSC‐EV release (∼18% in 6 hrs) supports effective EV ocular delivery.
