The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

An Apparatus for Determining Coefficients in Power Series [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Notes, 1932
The diagrammatic figure illustrates the principle involved. The vertical full lines represent ordinates of a curve of which theabscissae are Oa1, Oa2, etc. Let now all these vertical lines be rotated round the points O, a1, a2, etc., while retaining their original lengths, through the same angle θ. The curve passing through the new positions of the end

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

The aerodynamics of a Savonius blade [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
Faced with the energy crisis and global warming, renewable energies are emerging as a key response, particularly wind power. Among these various technologies, vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs) present a promising energy source in rural areas.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Optimal calibration in immunoassay and inference on the coefficient of variation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This thesis examines and develops statistical methods for design and analysis with applications in immunoassay and other analytical techniques. In immunoassay, concentrations of components in clinical samples are measured using antibodies.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Study on the Pitch Angle Effect on the Power Coefficient and Blade Fatigue Load of a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
For vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs), the increase of the incoming wind speed higher than the rated value will make the tip speed ratio (TSR) lower and lower, resulting in the blade fatigue load becoming more and more severe and the power coefficient ...
