Enhancing Efficiency and Reliability of Tidal Stream Energy Conversion through Swept-Blade Design

open access: yesEnergies
The current limited efficiency and reliability of tidal current turbines (TCTs) have posed significant challenges in effectively harnessing tidal stream energy.

The coefficients of the powers of a polynomial

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Bureau of Standards Section B Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, 1967
The general question which prompted thi s note is the following: Suppose that fez) is analytic and zero·free inside the unit circle , and normalized so that f(O) = 1. Let r be real and positive and choose ([or definiteness) that determination of fr(z) for which 1'"(0) = 1. Then what can be said about the order of magnitude of the coefficients of jr(z)?

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

On the Coefficients and the Growth of Gap Power Series [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1966
In this paper we are interested in the limiting case, in which not the behavior of f in an angle, but only on a radius, for example z = x > 0, is known. Fabry gaps no longer suffice to get information about the growth of m(r) = [...], since already Polya pointed out [11, p.

Identifying gene expression signatures for risk stratification of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A novel signature integrating genome‐wide analysis with clinical factors predicts recurrence in stage II colorectal cancer and enables a new risk stratification to guide postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Clinical risk stratification for postoperative recurrence in patients with pathological stage II (pStage II) colorectal cancer (CRC) is essential ...

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Design and numerical analysis of an efficient H-Darrieus vertical-axis hydrokinetic turbine

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2019
Hydrokinetic turbines are one of the technological alternatives to generate and supply electricity for rural communities isolated from the national electrical grid with almost zero emission. The Darrieus turbine is one of the options that can be used as

MagmaFlow: A desktop platform for artificial intelligence‐driven expression analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
MagmaFlow is a free, no‐code platform for gene expression analysis. It generates interactive volcano plots, links genes to literature, pathways, and diseases, prioritizes candidates using millions of publications, identifies affected biological processes, builds network diagrams, and exports publication‐ready figures and reports for macOS and Windows ...

Power Reduction Technique in Coefficient Multiplications Through Multiplier Characterization

open access: yes, 2004
This paper presents a multiplier power reduction technique for low-power DSP applications through utilization of coefficient optimization. The optimization is implementation dependent in that the multipliers are assumed to be designed in either ASIC or
