Testing and Evaluation of a Power Factor Correction for Power-Savings Potential

open access: yes, 2011
Power factor correction (PFC) is an important technology that can be used to enhance power quality. It was noted that the power factor was low for packaged air-conditioning (PAC) units utilized in residential buildings in Kuwait.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

DESIGN OF SPEED CONTROL BRUHLESS DC MOTOR BASED POWER FACTOR CORRECTION (PFC) USING SINGLE ENDED PRIMARY INDUCTANCE CONVERTER (SEPIC)

open access: yesJurnal Teknik ITS, 2017
Brushless DC motors have been applied extensively in household and industrial scale because of the advantages such as high efficiency and mechanical losses are low because it does not use the brush like a DC motor.

Stable n-type thermoelectric multilayer thin films with high power factor from carbonaceous nanofillers

open access: yes, 2016
High power factor n-type organic thermoelectric nanocomposites are assembled by alternately depositing double walled-nanotubes (DWNT), stabilized by polyethyleneimine (PEI), and graphene stabilized by polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), from water using the ...

A novel common power factor correction scheme for homes and offices

open access: yes, 2005
This paper explores the approach of having a common Power Factor Correction circuit for domestic and commercial loads. This leads to lower harmonic distortion without the need to install (expensive) active rectifiers in each end-user device. The need for

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.
