Optimized Power Flow Control to Minimize Congestion in a Modern Power System
The growing integration of renewable energy sources (RES) into the power system causes congestion to occur more frequently. In order to reduce congestion in the short term and to make the utilization of the power system more efficient in the long term ...

Convex Relaxation of Optimal Power Flow, Part II: Exactness [PDF]
This tutorial summarizes recent advances in the convex relaxation of the optimal power flow (OPF) problem, focusing on structural properties rather than algorithms. Part I presents two power flow models, formulates OPF and their relaxations in each model,

Power Flow Control in Multi-Terminal HVDC Grids Using a Serial-Parallel DC Power Flow Controller
Multi-terminal HVDC (MT-HVDC) grids have no capability of power flow control in a self-sufficient manner. To address this important issue, utilization of dc-dc high power and high-voltage converters is motivated. However, proposing suitable partial-rated

Distributed power flow controller
This paper presents the simulation results of Distributed Power Flow Controller model designed in MATLAB/SIMULINK. A simple two bus system is considered for simulation. Power flow between the two buses is obtained by providing a phase difference between the buses. DPFC consists of one shunt converter and six single phase series converters.

Joint Frequency Regulation and Economic Dispatch Using Limited Communication
We study the performance of a decentralized integral control scheme for joint power grid frequency regulation and economic dispatch. We show that by properly designing the controller gains, after a power flow perturbation, the control achieves near ...
