Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Preventive transient stability control using constrained optimal power flow

open access: yes, 2009
A new methodology for obtaining the optimal power flow with transient stability constraints is proposed in this paper. The main algorithm decomposes the problem into conventional optimal power flow and optimal control sub-problems, which are solved ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Flexible Power Electronic Transformer for Power Flow Control Applications [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Operation and Automation in Power Engineering, 2007
This paper proposes a Flexible Power Electronic Transformer (FPET) for the application in the micro-grids. The low frequency transformer is usually used at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) to connect the low voltage grid and utility network to each ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

The Performance of the BTB-VSC for Active Power Balancing, Reactive Power Compensation and Current Harmonic Filtering in the Interconnected Systems

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Nowadays, the use of power converters to control active and reactive power in AC−AC grid-connected systems has increased. With respect to indirect AC−AC converters, the tendency is to enable the back-to-back (BTB) voltage source converter ...
