Enhancing Power Budget and Spectral Efficiency in Amplifier-Less Coherent Optical Links

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2021
With the standardization of 400ZR driving the focus on coherent pluggables for short-reach applications, cost-effective links must be deployed. A way to achieve this is by removing the optical amplification; however, this exacerbates the impact of a high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR).

Link Power Budget Advantage of GI-core Polymer Optical Waveguide for Waveguide-based Optical Link

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2012
We experimentally demonstrate that GI-core polymer optical waveguides provide a 3.4-dB advantage in power budget of optical link composed of waveguides and MMF, compared to SI-core polymer optical waveguides.

Power budget model for indoor wireless optical link

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
In an indoor optical wireless link laser beam carrying the information propagates through a room and reflects on walls and various objects. Multiple reflections and multipath distortions occur when using this link. A power budget of the indoor optical wireless link and a model of the surface reflectivity are presented in the contribution.

System design and performance evaluation of high altitude platform: Link budget and power budget

2017 19th International Conference on Advanced Communication Technology (ICACT), 2017
High altitude platform (HAP) is an emerging technology to cope with the increasing demand of multimedia applications, capacity and coverage of wireless service communication. The purpose of HAP is to provide broadband communication over wide area from a single node. Link budgeting, power system designing and planning for a 50 kg HAP has been presented.

Optimal power budget in quasi-linear dispersion-managed fiber links

The 15th Annual Meeting of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society, 2003
We have developed a theory of power budget optimization in dispersion-managed cascaded optical amplifier systems. It can be used for a variety of systems and can be easily generalized for more complex configurations. Applying our general results to a specific configuration we analyzed a novel design of the transmission system with periodically ...

Ocean water channel modeling and estimation of power link budget for underwater wireless link

2017 International Conference on Wireless Communications, Signal Processing and Networking (WiSPNET), 2017
Underwater communication has a range of applications including autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) communication and docking in the offshore industry. As the available acoustic communication has the limited data rate can, i.e., up to tens of kbps for distances ranging in kilometers and up to hundreds of kbps for ...
