"All-fiber" tunable laser in the 2 mu m region, designed for CO2 detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A stable and tunable thulium-doped “all-fiber” laser offering a narrow linewidth has been created specifically to act as a compact and simple laser source for gaseous CO2 detection.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Power and data simultaneous transmission using double-clad fibers towards 6G

open access: yesScientific Reports
To the best of our knowledge, this work represents the first report in the literature on the implementation of a radio- and power-over-fiber (RPoF) system utilizing double-clad fiber (DCF) aimed at the sixth generation of mobile communications networks ...

3 kW 20/400 Yb-Doped Aluminophosphosilicate Fiber With High Stability

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
By using the MCVD system and the all-gas-phase chelate precursor doping technique, we fabricated an Yb-doped aluminophosphosilicate fiber with 20 μm-core and 400 μm-clad in diameter, i.e., 20/400 Yb-APS fiber. The fiber

High Power, High Efficiency, Continuous-Wave Supercontinuum Generation using Standard Telecom Fibers

open access: yes, 2018
We demonstrate a simple module for octave spanning continuous-wave supercontinuum generation using standard telecom fiber. This module can accept any high power Ytterbium-doped fiber laser as input.

Dual-drive LiNbO_3 interferometric Mach-Zehnder architecture with extended linear regime for high peak-to-average OFDM-based communication systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A dual-drive LiNbO3 architecture modulator with chirp management is proposed and developed offering SFDR > 25 dB in a 1.4 V bias excursion compared to only 0.5 V bias excursion in a conventional Mach-Zehnder electro-optical modulator (MZ-EOM).

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Cooling Fiber Laser Power Converter Systems by Immersion in Oil

open access: yesPhotonics
We demonstrate the use of Laser Power Converters (LPCs) driven by fiber laser light while immersed in transformer oil for heat management purposes. Reliability tests performed via extended continuous operation using 6–7 W of input power from 808 nm and ...

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...
