Accurate fault location technique for power transmission lines
IEE Proceedings C Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1990The authors describe a very accurate fault location technique which uses post-fault voltage and current derived at both line ends. Fault location is independent of fault resistance and the method does not require any knowledge of source impedance. It maintains high accuracy for untransposed lines and no fault type identification is required.

Accurate fault location algorithm for power transmission lines
European Transactions on Electrical Power, 2000AbstractIn this paper we propose a new fault location algorithm for power transmission lines based on one terminal voltage and current data. A distributed time domain model of the line is used as a basis for algorithm development. The suggested technique only takes advantage of postāfault voltage and current samples taken at one end of the line and ...

Statistical algorithms for fault location on power transmission lines
2005 IEEE Russia Power Tech, 2005This paper summarizes the application of statistical algorithms for fault location on power transmission lines. The proposed fault location algorithms utilize statistical information about the undefined parameters such as equivalent impedances of the system at the unmonitored end of the transmission line, or those containing random errors.

An abductive inference technique for fault diagnosis in electrical power transmission networks
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1997This paper introduces a system modeling concept and a new algorithm based on abductive inference for handling diagnostic problems in electrical power transmission networks. The overall technique relies on the inherent functional and logical relationships between system elements such as lines, buses, relays and breakers to generate a diagnostic model ...

Fault Location in a Nonuniform DC Power Transmission Line
Power Technology and Engineering, 2015Existing methods and devices for locating faults in dc lines are analyzed. A fault location algorithm is proposed for a nonuniform dc line based on the spectral method. This algorithm can also be successfully employed to determine a short circuit in a uniform line as in the special case of a nonuniform dc line.

Fault location in power transmission line based on ISVR
2010 The 2nd International Conference on Industrial Mechatronics and Automation, 2010The learning and generation performance of support vector regression (SVR) is determined to parameter selection, so an immune support vector regression (ISVR) for fault location was presented in the paper. The algorithm used immune algorithm to optimize the parameters of SVR in order to globally optimize parameters and reduce the blindness of man-made ...
