Fault Location Identification in Power Transmission Networks using Novel Non-intrusive Fault Monitoring Systems

2020 IEEE/IAS 56th Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Technical Conference (I&CPS), 2020
This article proposes a novel fault-localization method that is based on the nonintrusive fault-monitoring (NIFM) techniques in high-voltage/extra-high-voltage (HV/EHV) power transmission networks. In this work, the fault signals measured at the utilities are extracted by the hyperbolic S-transform (HST) before going through the identification process.

Accurate fault location algorithm for power transmission lines

European Transactions on Electrical Power, 2000
AbstractIn this paper we propose a new fault location algorithm for power transmission lines based on one terminal voltage and current data. A distributed time domain model of the line is used as a basis for algorithm development. The suggested technique only takes advantage of post‐fault voltage and current samples taken at one end of the line and ...

Hybrid Approach for Detection and Diagnosis of Short-Circuit Faults in Power Transmission Lines

Energies
In this article, the main problem under investigation is the detection and diagnosis of short-circuit faults in power transmission lines. The proposed fault detection (FDD) approach is mainly based on principal component analysis (PCA).

Enhancing Fault Location Performance on Power Transmission Lines

2007 IEEE Lausanne Power Tech, 2007
This paper discusses supporting algorithms for fault location on power transmission lines. The performance of fault location algorithm is strongly dependent on the accuracy of line model. Short circuit recordings contain valuable data, from which line parameters can be computed.

Fault detection at power transmission lines by extreme learning machine

2013 21st Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2013
With the increase of energy demand continuous energy transmission gained considerable attention. For a continuous energy transmission, the faulty power transmission line needs to be quickly isolated from the system. In this study, Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) possessing fast learning and high generalization capacity was used for this purpose and it ...

Fault Detection and Classification in Power Transmission Lines using Back Propagation Neural Networks

2020 International Conference on Smart Electronics and Communication (ICOSEC), 2020
Generally, overhead power transmission system is a set of conductors used to transfer power from generation station to consumer side. Since the conductors are left uncovered, they become more vulnerable to faults.
