<div class="htmlview paragraph">In further studies of Advanced Supersonic Transport (AST) powerplants the relative merits of several different engine cycles have been compared. The influence of the noise levels which have to be met is shown to be a dominant factor on the design of both the powerplant and the aircraft.

Prospects for Alternate Powerplants
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1972<div class="htmlview paragraph">The Clean Air Act Amendments of 1970 require that new model automobiles of 1976 and later meet stringent exhaust emission standards. The technical difficulties appearing in ‘Clean-up’ of the conventional automobile engine require that alternate engines be developed in the event that the conventional engine cannot ...

The Design of Helicopter Powerplants
The Aeronautical Journal, 1971Over the past twenty years a large part of the activity of Turbomeca has been directed first to the creation and next to the subsequent development of propulsion units for helicopters. The use of the gas turbine brought with it a fundamental advantage—low specific weight which led to the exceptional expansion of this specialised branch of the aircraft ...
