Objective. Measuring NKG2C+CD57+ natural killer (NK) cell expansion to investigate NK responses against human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) and assessing relationships with adaptive immunity against HCMV. Methods. Expansion of NKG2C+CD57+ NK was measured in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from groups distinguished by HCMV and human immunodeficiency ...

Human Cytomegalovirus and Autoimmune Disease
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) represents a prototypic pathogenic member of the β‐subgroup of the herpesvirus family. A range of HCMV features like its lytic replication in multiple tissues, the lifelong persistence through periods of latency and intermitting reactivation, the extraordinary large proteome, and extensive manipulation of adaptive and ...

EVAs are extracellular accumulations of viral products and other vesicular material.
1A Overview indicates the subfigures’ positions in relation to the whole cell. 1B Quantification of EVA occurrence. HFF cells were infected with HCMV-pp150-SNAP-gM-mScarlet-I or HCMV-TB40-WT at an MOI of 1 and fixed at 120 hpi.

Amorphophallus titanum (Becc.) Becc. (Araceae) is native to the rainforests of Sumatra, and famously produces a single, massive, thermogenic, and highly odoriferous inflorescence. Despite having both male and female flowers in close proximity, A. titanum does not readily self‐pollinate as it is strictly dichogamous, with female flowers receptive on the

ABSTRACT Background Chronic back pain (CBP) is a major cause of disability globally. While its etiology is multifactorial, specific contributing genetic and environmental factors remain to be discovered. Paraspinal muscle fat has been shown in human and preclinical studies to be related to CBP. One potential risk factor is infection by cytomegalovirus (

Is Combined Pretransplantation Seropositivity of Kidney Transplant Recipients for Cytomegalovirus Antigens (pp150 and pp28) a Predictor for Protection against Infection? [PDF]
Objective: This study was aimed at detecting antibodies to the antigens which may contribute to protection against cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection after organ transplantation. Materials and Methods: A total of 203 kidney transplant patients were enrolled in the study.

Memory inflation: Beyond the acute phase of viral infection
This review highlights the definition of virus‐induced CD8+ T cell memory inflation,as well as the impacts on multi‐diseases progression. By summarizing current understandings, an opportunity is provided for shedding a light on the long‐term influences of memory inflation in host‐immune homeostasis thus beyond the acute phase of infection.

A cytomegalovirus peptide-specific antibody alters natural killer cell homeostasis and ss shared in several autoimmune diseases [PDF]
Human cytomegalovirus (hCMV), a ubiquitous beta-herpesvirus, has been associated with several autoimmune diseases. However, the direct role of hCMV in inducing autoimmune disorders remains unclear.
