ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Sunflower under conventional and organic farming systems: results from a long term experiment in Central Italy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Sunflower productivity under organic and conventional agricultural systems was studied between 2002 and 2004 in the frame of the MASCOT experiment (Mediterranean Arable Systems COmparison Trial), established in 2001.

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Phytotoxicity resulting from pre-emergence graminicides in sorghum [PDF]

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Plant and Soil, 2006
This study was prompted by sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) producers reporting phytotoxicity when using graminicides under unfavourable environmental conditions. A greenhouse experiment was conducted in which five graminicides were evaluated at two temperature regimes, using 10 cultivars. Registered dosage rates of an acetochlo-atrazine-propazine

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Pre-emergence herbicides for weed control in walnuts

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1967
Walnuts are California's leading deciduous tree crop. Walnut orchardists spend over one million dollars annually for weed control on an estimated 140,000 acres.

Weed Response to Different Tank-Mix Herbicide Combinations and its Impact on Winter Rice Performance in Zero Till Non-Puddled Condition

open access: yesFundamental and Applied Agriculture
Tank-mixture of two or more chemical groups of either pre- or post-emergence herbicide might play a vital role to manage weeds of a diversified community more effectively than their single or sequential application.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.
