A Census of B[e] Supergiants

open access: yesGalaxies, 2019
Stellar evolution theory is most uncertain for massive stars. For reliable predictions of the evolution of massive stars and their final fate, solid constraints on the physical parameters, and their changes along the evolution and in different ...

The star sequence and the general first Zagreb index [PDF]

open access: yesko, The star sequence and the general first Zagreb index MATCH Communications in Mathematical and in Computer Chemistry,Volume 79 (2018), number 2, pp. 407-414, 2017
For a simple graph, we introduce a notion of the star sequence and prove that the star sequence and the frequently sequences of a graph are inverses of each other from a combinatorial point of view. As a consequence, we express the general first Zagreb index in terms of the star sequence.

Replenishing co‐downregulated miR‐100‐5p and miR‐125b‐5p in malignant germ cell tumors causes growth inhibition through cell cycle disruption

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MiR‐99a‐5p/miR‐100‐5p (functionally identical) and miR‐125b‐5p microRNAs are downregulated in malignant germ cell tumors (GCTs). Combination replenishment of these microRNAs using mimics resulted in growth inhibition in representative cell lines, with consequent downregulation of target genes involved in cell cycle (confirmed by flow cytometry) and ...

Effect of Time-varying X-Ray Emission from Stellar Flares on the Ionization of Protoplanetary Disks

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
X-rays have significant impacts on cold, weakly ionized protoplanetary disks by increasing the ionization rate and driving chemical reactions. Stellar flares are explosions that emit intense X-rays and are the unique source of hard X-rays with an energy ...

IN-SYNC I: HOMOGENEOUS STELLAR PARAMETERS FROM HIGH-RESOLUTION APOGEE SPECTRA FOR THOUSANDS OF PRE-MAIN SEQUENCE STARS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Over two years, 8859 high-resolution H-band spectra of 3493 young (1–10 Myr) stars were gathered by the multi-object spectrograph of the APOGEE project as part of the IN-SYNC ancillary program of the SDSS-III survey.

SKA1 promotes oncogenic properties in oral dysplasia and oral squamous cell carcinoma, and augments resistance to radiotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The mitosis‐related gene SKA1 was among 629 genes consistently dysregulated in OSCC across nine public gene expression datasets. In OSCC cell lines, SKA1 promoted proliferation and migration, enhanced radioresistance, and reduced radiation‐induced senescence.

The Comprehensive Archive of Substellar and Planetary Accretion Rates

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
Accretion rates ( $\dot{M}$ ) of young stars show a strong correlation with object mass ( M ); however, extension of the $\dot{M}\mbox{--}M$ relation into the substellar regime is less certain. Here, we present the Comprehensive Archive of Substellar and

Diffusion and pulsations in slowly rotating B stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Diffusion in cool B stars of the main sequence has been shown to strongly affect opacities and convection in cool B stars of the main sequence. We show here that diffusion in B stars maintains or enhances the excitation of pulsations in these stars. This result conflicts with observations as cool B stars that show evidence of diffusion, the HgMn stars,

The Rotation Period Distribution of Pre-Main-Sequence Stars in and around the Orion Nebula

open access: yes, 1999
We report rotation periods for 254 stars in an area 40′ × 80′ centered on the Orion Nebula. We show that these stars are likely members of the young (∼106 yr) Orion OBIc/d association.

X-Rays in the Orion Nebula Cluster: Constraints on the Origins of Magnetic Activity in Pre-Main-Sequence Stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A recent observation of the Orion Nebula Cluster with the ACIS instrument on board the Chandra X-Ray Observatory detected 1075 sources, 525 of which are pre-main-sequence (PMS) stars with measured bulk properties such as bolometric luminosities, masses ...
