Calibrating of a Simulation Model to Predict the Flexural Capacity of Pre-Stressed Concrete Beams

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Simulation models based on finite elements are currently indispensable tools for predicting the structural behavior of both reinforced and pre-stressed concrete elements. This work develops a simulation model of structural linear elements of pre-stressed

Effect of Pre-Stress on Laser-Induced Thermoplastic Deformation of Inconel 718 Beams [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2021
Laser thermal forming is an application of laser heating without any intentional use of external forces. Force-assisted laser bending and laser-assisted bending are hybrid techniques, which combine the use of external forces and local heating to increase the effectiveness of forming.

Buckling of a clamped strip‐like beam with a linear pre‐stress distribution [PDF]

open access: yesZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2020
AbstractA thin linear elastic strip is clamped at both ends and subjected to a linear stress distribution across its width. We use Kirchhoff beam theory to study this problem. If displacements out of the strips own plane are prohibited, the straight configuration remains stable as long as the compression is not too high.

Evaluation of the increased load bearing capacity of steel beams strengthened with pre-stressed FRP laminates [PDF]

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2016
We analyse the problem of a simply supported steel beam subjected to uniformly distributed load, strengthened with a pre-stressed fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) laminate.

Nonlinear deformation analysis for precast pre-stressed concrete beam systems [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The structural systems such as road bridge beam systems (span superstructure) or beam systems used in high-rise buildings with precast pre-stressed reinforced concrete might be subjected to the load higher than the calculated load of the design process ...

Modelling of Glulam beams pre-stressed by compressed wood

open access: yesComposite Structures, 2017
Finite element models were, in the first time, developed to simulate the pre-stressing behaviour of Glulam beams with insertion of compressed wood blocks, which were further used to simulate the structural behaviour of the pre-stressed beams subjected to subsequent destructive bending.

Crack Resistance of Pre-Stressed Steel-Reinforced Concrete Composite Simple Supported Beams

open access: yesBuildings
To study the normal section crack resistance of pre-stressed steel-reinforced concrete simply supported composite beams, the specific parameters such as the component steel content, the reinforcement ratio of non-pre-stressed and pre-stressed bars, and ...

Curvature Change in Laser-Assisted Bending of Inconel 718

open access: yesPhysical Sciences Forum, 2022
Laser heating is industrially applied to facilitate plastic shaping, especially for materials difficult to form due to their high hardness or brittleness.

Structural Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Hollow Beams under Partial Uniformly Distributed Load

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2023
A Longitudinal opening is used to construct hollow core beam is a cast in site or precast or pre stressed concrete member with continuous voids provided to reduce weight, cost and, as a side benefit, to use for concealed electrical or mechanical runs ...

Soft Pre-stressed PET Profiles as reinforcing fibers in structural elements made of concrete

open access: yesDyna, 2018
The inclusion of pre-stressed PET profiles as reinforcing fibers in structural elements is proposed. The PET-profiles are placed in a unidirectional and bidirectional fiber matrix with soft pre-tensioned condition that they could have advantages in ...
