From Geometry to Function: Programmable Mechanical Response in 3D‐Printed Adipose‐Inspired Soft Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven design of soft cellular metamaterials is systematically investigated by combining experiments, finite element modeling, and statistical prediction. The study quantifies how unit cell geometry and material properties govern stiffness, instability, densification, and energy absorption.

The damage analysis of the reinforced concrete beam and the prestressed reinforced concrete beam

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The paper deals with the finite-element analysis of damage in reinforced concrete beam and prestressed reinforced concrete beam. The steel reinforcement is modeled using non-linear rebar elements and an elastoplastic model of the reinforcement is ...

Nanoscale Spatial Tuning of Superconductivity in Cuprate Thin Films via Direct Laser Writing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Maskless direct laser writing enables local control of oxygen stoichiometry in epitaxial YBCO thin films under ambient conditions. Sub‐micrometer grayscale patterns with tunable optical response and superconducting transport properties are achieved.

Analytical Approach to Predict Pre–Camber Deflection of the Pre-stressed Glulam Beams

open access: yesCivil Engineering Dimension, 2015
A new approach to reinforce glulam timber beams using compressed wood (CW) has been developed by the Author. The compressed wood blocks are inserted into pre-cut holes on the top of glulam beams to produce pre-camber and to generate initial tensile and ...

Development of Multifunctional Hierarchically Restructured Antibacterial Neural Interfacing Electrodes via Plasma‐Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition of Zinc Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Next‐generation implantable neural‐interfacing devices are increasingly constrained by the coupled demands of electrode miniaturization, electrochemical performance, and implantation infection risk. Femtosecond laser–based hierarchical surface restructuring (HSR) technology has emerged as a scalable, manufacturing‐compatible platform for ...

Application of Glulam beam girders with external pre-stressing

open access: yes, 2010
The paper presents details of a numerical analysis and construction of glulam beam girder structures with external pre-stressing. We have applied such structures on spans ranging from 24 to 32 m for the purpose of reduction of overall costs of glulam materials. For the external pre-stressing, steel braces S355 and Besista standard connectors were used.

Dopant Distribution in Ga‐Implanted CdO—A Correlative Microscopy and Molecular Dynamics Study

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that ion implantation offset angle could modulate carrier concentration and mobility in cadmium oxide thin films. Combining correlative microscopy workflow and molecular dynamics simulations, this study reveals the control of interfacial cluster density with tailoring implantation angles, and the optimum offset angle that ...

Investigation on the effect of cross beams in single span bridges under dynamic aspect by using finite element method

open access: yesJournal of Materials and Engineering Structures, 2022
In the 1980s and 1990s, most bridges in Vietnam employed simple beam for short-span river crossings that did not need navigation and mainly used the reinforced concrete T-beams or pre-stressed concrete.

Innovative pre-stressing and cambering of timber-to-timber composite beams

open access: yesComposite Structures, 2019
Abstract The paper focuses on an innovative method to pre-stress and camber composite beams. The method relies on the compression force that can be generated by distributed screw fasteners inserted at an angle to the axes of the elements forming the composite structure (no external props or tendons are needed to pre-stress the structure).

Atom Probe Tomography as an Emerging Tool for Understanding Defect‑Driven Mechanisms in HfO2‑Based Ferroelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective highlights atom probe tomography as a powerful tool for understanding the atomic‐scale defect chemistry in HfO2‐based ferroelectrics. 3D mapping of dopants, point defects, and interface chemistry can provide new insight into defect‐driven mechanisms underpinning the ferroelectricity in the system and guide the design of more reliable ...
