The tensile strength of granite, a proposed host for nuclear waste, degrades severely above 400°C. We link this to specific microcracking patterns captured by acoustic emission, establishing a scientific basis for assessing repository safety under thermal load.

Design of a preamplifier card for the photomultiplier tubes of a gamma camera
The service provided by Gamma Cameras (GC) in Nuclear Medicine departments fails because of their breakdown, generally due to the associated electronics and not to the physical detection components.

A New Preamplifier for Particle Detectors [PDF]
A new preamplifier for particle detectors has been designed and built for the Fermilab VTPC by Fujitsu of Japan. The device, designated MB43458, is a semi-custom monolithic assembled in a small, low mass package. The purpose of this report is to document the preliminary tests which have been done thus far.

This study investigates the damage evolution and failure mechanisms of tunnel lining concrete in active fault zones through uniaxial compression tests integrated with acoustic emission (AE) monitoring. A strong linear correlation is identified between the AE cumulative absolute energy and the total strain energy, providing a reliable energy‐based ...

Influence of the Gain–Bandwidth of the Front-End Amplifier on the Performance of a QEPAS Sensor
The quartz tuning fork used as an acoustic sensor in quartz-enhanced photo-acoustic spectroscopy gas detection systems is usually read out by means of a transimpedance preamplifier based on a low-noise operational amplifier closed in a feedback loop. The

Enhancing the Ferroelectricity of MAPbI3 via Hydroxyl Groups to Boost Photocatalytic Performance
The hydroxyl groups in (EOA)2PbBr4 enable a rearrangement of the polar MA+ ions in MAPbI3, which enhances the Ps‐electric field and promotes the separation of photogenerated carriers. Consequently, the (EOA)2PbBr4/MAPbI3 composite exhibits the enhanced CO production yield in photocatalytic CO2 reduction reactions.

Abstract Infantile epilepsy spasms syndrome (IESS), formerly known as infantile spasms or West Syndrome, is a severe epilepsy syndrome affecting about 3 in 10,000 newborns in the United States. Characterized by clusters of epileptic spasms, interictal hypsarrhythmia, and developmental delays, IESS has diverse causes, including structural‐metabolic ...

Pitch Strength & Percent Vocal Creak to Assess Treatment Response in Adductor Laryngeal Dystonia
Pitch Strength (PS) and Percent Vocal Creak (%VC) were measured before and after botulinum neurotoxin treatment in patients with adductor laryngeal dystonia (AdLD). While PS and %VC correlated with changes in disruption frequency and perceptual severity, they did not demonstrate robust group‐level treatment sensitivity.
