On the Sensitivity of Future Hydrology in the Colorado River to the Selection of the Precipitation Partitioning Method

open access: yesWater Resources Research
The accurate partitioning of precipitation is important for snowpack and streamflow simulations in mountainous regions. However, most hydrologic models employ a partitioning method based on near‐surface air temperature (Ta) and the sensitivity of ...

Leveraging a radar-based disdrometer network to develop a probabilistic precipitation phase model in eastern Canada [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences
This study presents a probabilistic model that partitions the precipitation phase based on hourly measurements from a network of radar-based disdrometers in eastern Canada.

Wetland characteristics affect abundance and diversity of wintering birds: A case study in South‐Western Iran

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2022
Water availability is an important driver of bird population change, and its effects are likely to increase in coming decades under climate change. Here we assess effects of temperature, precipitation, and water area on wintering bird populations in ...

A Joint Soil‐Vegetation‐Atmospheric Water Tagging Procedure With WRF‐Hydro: Implementation and Application to the Case of Precipitation Partitioning in the Upper Danube River Basin

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2019
Atmospheric models such as the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model provide a tool to evaluate the behavior of regional hydrological cycle components, including precipitation, evapotranspiration, soil water storage, and runoff.

Microstructure development and mechanical properties of a C-Mn-Si-Al-Cr cold rolled steel subjected to quenching and partitioning treatment

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
The microstructural evolution and mechanical behavior of Fe-0.2C-2.7Mn-1.2Si-0.8Al-0.3Cr (wt.%) quenching and partitioning steel were studied. Partitioning was performed at 400, 440, and 480 °C for various durations from 30 to 300 s to obtain different ...

Estimates of the climatological land surface energy and water balance derived from maximum convective power [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2014
The land surface energy and water balances are tightly coupled by the partitioning of absorbed solar radiation into terrestrial radiation and the turbulent fluxes of sensible and latent heat, as well as the partitioning of precipitation into evaporation ...

Modeling of Convective–Stratiform Precipitation Processes: Sensitivity to Partitioning Methods [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Meteorology, 2003
Abstract Six different convective–stratiform separation techniques are compared and evaluated using 2D numerical simulations of a tropical and a midlatitude continental squall line. The techniques used include a texture algorithm applied to surface rainfall, a similar algorithm but with additional criteria applied to vertical velocity and cloud, a ...

The Roles of Winter Versus Summer Precipitation in Supplying Evapotranspiration Across US Ecoregions: A Cross‐Catchment End‐Member‐Splitting Analysis

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Understanding how changing seasonal precipitation will affect ecosystems and water resources can benefit from understanding how precipitation from different seasons contributes to runoff versus evapotranspiration (ET).

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.
