Reversed electroimmunodiffusion for quantitating precipitins

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1974
Abstract This paper describes a new technique, reversed one-dimensional single electroimmunodiffusion (REID), for rapid and simple quantitation of antiserum precipitins on a continouous scale, reports results of experiments on factors affecting use and interpretation of this new method, and describes a new device for accurately and simply metering ...

Slide Gel Diffusion Precipitin Test

Nature, 1958
A MODIFICATION of the plate gel diffusion test1 is proposed, carried out on microscope slides. The use of a thin layer of media on the slide, together with a reduction in the distance between antigen and antibody basins, resulted in an earlier appearance of the reaction.

Precipitin Production in Chickens

The Journal of Immunology, 1952
Summary The similarity of pheasant and owl antibeef-albumin precipitins to chicken precipitins was demonstrated. At low salinity, about 1%, precipitation of these antibodies was very incomplete; on increasing the salinity the precipitation became more complete.

THE PRECIPITIN REACTION

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1926
Important as previous studies on hemolytic streptococci as a cause of scarlet fever may be, especially immunologic studies, convincing proof of etiologic relationship of hemolytic streptococci to scarlet fever was lacking until the Dicks produced the disease in human volunteers with pure cultures of this organism.

Precipitin Production in Chickens

The Journal of Immunology, 1950
Summary Splenectomy reduces the ability of chickens to produce precipitating antibodies. Splenectomized chickens are less responsive to small injections of antigen than unoperated animals.

Electrophoretic Precipitin Test on Cellulose Acetate

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1966
The simultaneous electrophoretic movement of antigen through antiserum on paper, termed transmigration, is a means of detecting immune reactions. In order to detect multiple precipitin reactions rapidly as a means of demonstrating antigen homogeneity or heterogeneity, antiserum may be separated electrophoretically on cellulose acetate, immediately ...

PRECIPITIN TESTS FOR AUTO‐IMMUNIZING THYROIDITIS

Australasian Annals of Medicine, 1960
SummaryThe results of precipitin and flocculation tests on the serum of 76 patients with thyroid disease are presented and discussed. A positive precipitin reaction to thyroid extract indicates that, at one time or other, the patient has become sensitized to thyroglobulin.A thyroid precipitin test employing normal electrophoretic equipment is described.

THE PRECIPITIN REACTION OF ANTIPNEUMOCOCCUS SERA : I. THE PRECIPITIN INDEX.

The Journal of experimental medicine, 2010
The mechanism of the precipitin reaction between antipneumococcus sera and the type-specific soluble carbohydrate is investigated. The sensitivity of the reaction is found to be generally constant when expressed by the product of the concentrations of the two reacting substances.

Semi-Micied Quantitative Gel Precipitin Reaction

Immunological Communications, 1976
Quantitative gel precipitin reactions were made on a semi-micro-scale. This required overall reduction of the dimensions of the necessary apparatus. Resulting from this was the ability to use agarose gel at low concentration not possible with the conventional macro quantitative gel precipitin technique. Further advantages were the reduction of time for
