A Relaxed Splitting Preconditioner for the Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
A relaxed splitting preconditioner based on matrix splitting is introduced in this paper for linear systems of saddle point problem arising from numerical solution of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations.

Finite Element Preconditioning on Spectral Element Discretizations for Coupled Elliptic Equations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
The uniform bounds on eigenvalues of B^h2−1A^N2 are shown both analytically and numerically by the P1 finite element preconditioner B^h2−1 for the Legendre spectral element system A^N2u¯=f¯ which is arisen from a coupled elliptic system occurred by an ...

An extension of the theory of secant preconditioners

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 1995
AbstractA theory of inexact Newton methods with secant preconditioners for solving large nonlinear systems of equations has been developed recently by Martínez (Math. Comput., 1993). According to this theory, local and superlinear convergence with bounded work per iteration of the inexact Newton method is obtained if the first trial increment at each ...

On Partial Cholesky Factorization and a Variant of Quasi-Newton Preconditioners for Symmetric Positive Definite Matrices

open access: yesAxioms, 2018
This work studies limited memory preconditioners for linear symmetric positive definite systems of equations. Connections are established between a partial Cholesky factorization from the literature and a variant of Quasi-Newton type preconditioners ...

A polynomial preconditioner for the GMRES algorithm

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 1995
The paper describes a polynomial preconditioner for the GMRES algorithm of \textit{Y. Saad} and \textit{M. H. Schultz} [SIAM J. Sci. Stat. Comput. 7, 856-869 (1986; Zbl 0599.65018)] in order to reduce the number of iterations and the storage requirements.

A modified domain decomposition spectral collocation method for parabolic partial differential equations

open access: yesNetworks and Heterogeneous Media
In this paper, utilizing Legendre polynomials as the basis functions in both space and time, we present a modified domain decomposition spectral method for 2-dimensional parabolic partial differential equations.
