TRANSITION ZONE CANCERS UNDERMINE THE PREDICTIVE ACCURACY OF PARTIN TABLE STAGE PREDICTIONS
Journal of Urology, 2005The Partin tables represent the most widely used predictor of pathological stage in men with localized prostate cancer (PCa). The accuracy and performance of the tables have been tested across different populations. However, to our knowledge the potential limitations that may stem from differences between transition zone (TZ) and peripheral zone (PZ ...

Prediction, accommodation and the periodic table: a reappraisal
Foundations of Chemistry, 2020The history of the diffusion and confirmation of Mendeleev’s periodic table of elements has proven to be a challenging testbed for contemporary philosophical debates on the role of predictions in science. More than ten years of fruitful literature came after Scerri and Worrall (Stud Hist Phil Sci 32(3):407–452, 2001) versus Maher (Proc Bienn Meet ...

PREDICTING CANCEROUS GENES BASED ON REGULATION TRUTH TABLES
International Journal on Artificial Intelligence Tools, 2006Several of ten thousands functional genes control the growth, genetics, and behavior of living organisms by regulating different gene expressions. The genes in a normal cell control the process of cell growth, differentiation, reproduction, and apoptosis via multiple steps of interactive regulation mechanism. The mechanism of gene regulation is a very

[Table for predicting the occurrence of strokes].
Zhurnal nevropatologii i psikhiatrii imeni S.S. Korsakova (Moscow, Russia : 1952), 1983A table for forecasting the development of cerebral strokes is offered. The table was worked out on the basis of 424 verified observations and tested on 600 observations. The accuracy of the forecasting exceeded 85%. The authors believe that its use in the health service practice will contribute to effective prophylaxis of cerebral strokes.

Predictive Ability of Partin Tables 2001 in a Welsh Population
Urologia Internationalis, 2006Objectives: Partin tables are widely used to select and counsel patients prior to radical surgery for prostate cancer. However, Partin tables have been developed in the USA which has a different ethnic mixture from that of North Wales. We aimed to assess Partin tables’ predictive ability in a Welsh population.

Rebound model of table tennis ball for trajectory prediction
2010 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics, 2010A flying model and a rebound model are presented for the trajectory prediction of table tennis ball in this paper based on the assumption that the ball would fly without spin before rebound. The analytic solution for the flying model is also given. The rebound model in Z axis is based on height loss coefficient, and a learning method based on one order

Aliasing and anti-aliasing in branch history table prediction
ACM SIGARCH Computer Architecture News, 2003Branch history table (BHT) prediction is a simple and effective method of predicting branch direction at run-time in a microprocessor. Unfortunately, this method suffers from performance limitations due to aliasing, which is when more than one branch uses a single entry in the branch history table. Theoretically, for programs that exhibit pseudo-random
