Prediction of intensive care unit admission (>24h) after surgery in elective noncardiac surgical patients using machine learning algorithms

open access: yesDigital Health, 2022
Background To develop a highly discriminative machine learning model for the prediction of intensive care unit admission (>24h) using the easily available preoperative information from electronic health records.

DefectNET: multi-class fault detection on highly-imbalanced datasets

open access: yes, 2019
As a data-driven method, the performance of deep convolutional neural networks (CNN) relies heavily on training data. The prediction results of traditional networks give a bias toward larger classes, which tend to be the background in the semantic ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Progressive Degradation of an Ice Rumple in the Thwaites Ice Shelf, Antarctica, as Observed from High-Resolution Digital Elevation Models

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Ice rumples are locally-grounded features of flowing ice shelves, elevated tens of meters above the surrounding surface. These features may significantly impact the dynamics of ice-shelf grounding lines, which are strongly related to shelf stability.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A Real-Time Trajectory Prediction Method of Small-Scale Quadrotors Based on GPS Data and Neural Network

open access: yesSensors, 2020
This paper proposes a real-time trajectory prediction method for quadrotors based on a bidirectional gated recurrent unit model. Historical trajectory data of ten types of quadrotors were obtained. The bidirectional gated recurrent units were constructed

PREDICTION OF HAUGH UNIT BY EGG WEIGHT AND ALBUMEN HEIGHT [PDF]

open access: yesMesopotamia Journal of Agriculture, 2019
Haugh unit which introduced by Raymond haugh in 1937 is the most scale used to measure the egg quality by equation ( HU= 100*Log (h+7.57)-(1.7 * W 0.37 ) .The aim of this research is to find the prediction equation of the Haugh unit depending on egg ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
