CONTROLLING CHAOS BY PREDICTIVE CONTROL

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2005
Abstract New approach to controlling chaos in discrete-time nonlinear autonomous systems is proposed. We stabilize the desired unstable periodic orbit via small control, based on the prediction of the trajectory. The knowledge of the periodic orbit is not required, just its existence.

Model Predictive Control Tuning by Controller Matching

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2010
The effectiveness of model predictive control (MPC) in dealing with input and state constraints during transient operations is well known. However, in contrast with several linear control techniques, closed-loop frequency-domain properties such as sensitivities and robustness to small perturbations are usually not taken into account in the MPC design ...

OPTIMAL CONTROL REDESIGN OF GENERALIZED PREDICTIVE CONTROL

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1990
Abstract Since Generalized Predictive Control (GPC) is a special case of Receding Horizon Linear Quadratic (LQ) Optimal Control, we study the stability and performance properties of LQ optimal controllers with a view to assessing those of GPC. This leads us to suggest some modifications of GPC in order to guarantee closed loop stability and good ...

Gaze Control as Prediction

Trends in Cognitive Sciences, 2017
The recent study of overt attention during complex scene viewing has emphasized explaining gaze behavior in terms of image properties and image salience independently of the viewer's intentions and understanding of the scene. In this Opinion article, I outline an alternative approach proposing that gaze control in natural scenes can be characterized as

Predictive feedforward control

2016 12th IEEE International Conference on Control and Automation (ICCA), 2016
Measurable but controllable disturbances are common in industry, which drive systems away from their references and take time for feedback control to reject them, especially when the systems present input-output delays due to mechanical properties. In this paper, a novel feedforward control based on disturbance prediction is proposed.

Robust Model-Predictive Control

2013
Model predictive control (MPC) is indisputably one of the rare modern control techniques that has significantly affected control engineering practice due to its unique ability to systematically handle constraints and optimize performance. Robust MPC (RMPC) is an improved form of the conventional MPC that is intrinsically robust in the face of ...

Generalized Predictive Control

1999
This chapter describes one of the most popular predictive control algorithms: Generalized Predictive Control (GPC). The method is developed in detail, showing the general procedure to obtain the control law and its most outstanding characteristics. The original algorithm is extended to include the cases of measurable disturbances and change in the ...
