Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

A predictive equation for drug-induced lupus
Objective was to quantify the chemical mechanisms of drug-induced lupus (DIL), and to make the data of different authors comparable between them. I have used seven assumptions as a starting point, based on empirical evidence; then an equation is drawn, describing the relationship between the quantity of the drug taken by the patient(s) and the ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Resting energy expenditure measured longitudinally following hip fracture compared to predictive equations: is an injury adjustment required? [PDF]
The present study measuring resting energy expenditure (REE; kJ/d) longitudinally using indirect calorimetry in six elderly women aged ≥70 years following surgery for hip fracture, describes changes over time (days 10, 42 and 84 post-injury) and compares

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Validation of Predictive Equations of Pre‐Harvest Forage Nutritive Value for Alfalfa–Grass Mixtures
Predictive equations of pre-harvest nutritive attributes of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.)–grass mixtures using simple plant or climate data were developed in New York State for the spring growth, but they must be validated before being used outside their ...
