Predictive equations based on body composition for resting energy expenditure estimation in adults with obesity

open access: yes, 2020
Background and Aim: An accurate estimation of Resting Energy Expenditure (REE) in patients with obesity is crucial. Therefore, our aim was to assess the validity of REE predictive equations based on body composition variables in treatment-seeking Arab ...

Some Prediction Equations in Poultry Breeding

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1967
Abstract THE heritability of family means expresses the regression of the true mean of the family over its observed mean, thus to be used in differentiating between families of different sizes when practicing family selection. If we put the values of the genetic correlations between individuals in the families (r) as 1/2 and 1/4 for full- and half ...

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Adjusted predictions for generalized estimating equations

open access: yesBiometrics
ABSTRACT Generalized estimating equations (GEEs) are a popular statistical method for longitudinal data analysis, requiring specification of the first 2 marginal moments of the response along with a working correlation matrix to capture temporal correlations within a cluster.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Application of predictive control to a three-phase NPC converter: from simulation to a real platform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This final degree thesis is concerned with the application of the Predictive Control with Multilevel Converters, specifically the application of the Finite Set Model Predictive Control (FS-MPC) in a Three-Level Neutral Point Clamped (3L-NPC) Inverter.

Metabolisable energy content in canine and feline foods is best predicted by the NRC2006 equation.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Although animal trials are the most accurate approach to determine the metabolisable energy (ME) content of pet food, these are expensive and labour-intensive.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status
