Performance evaluation of model predictive direct torque control
2008 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2008This paper presents the implementation of a previously proposed model predictive direct torque control (MPDTC) algorithm for the control of three-phase induction motor drives comprising a three-level DC-link inverter. The MPDTC scheme is designed to keep the motor torque and stator flux and the inverter neutral point potential within given hysteresis ...

Torque control of induction motor using predictive observer
20th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2003Two types of torque control of an induction motor are proposed. In these methods, a predictive observer is introduced to estimate generated torque and flux. In one type of control, the calculated torque and flux are applied to the feedback control loops utilizing conventional vector control with slip frequency control.

Efficient Predictive Torque Control for Induction Motor Drive
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2019Finite control set model predictive control is an emerging technique for the control of power electronic converters. This paper introduces a simple and efficient predictive torque control (PTC) algorithm for induction motor drive. The proposed technique eliminates the need for flux-weighting factor for the conventional PTC. As a result, tedious offline

Partial torque ride through with model predictive control
2016 Petroleum and Chemical Industry Conference Europe (PCIC Europe), 2016Symmetric and asymmetric dips of the grid voltage pose serious problems to gas compression stations powered by drives such as load commutated inverters (LCI). Drive control systems used in industrial practice are not capable to handle reduced grid voltage situations appropriately, and execute a ride-through procedure instead during which no drive ...

Optimal switching time calculation in Predictive Torque Control
8th International Conference on Power Electronics - ECCE Asia, 2011This paper presents an approach to include a variable switching time into basic Predictive Torque Control methods. Using a constant switching frequency, every second switching time is shifted aiming at the minimization of the torque ripple. The optimal switching time is derived analytically from the torque error function.

Predictive Torque Vectoring Control with Active Trail-Braking
2018 European Control Conference (ECC), 2018In this work we present the development of a torque vectoring controller for electric vehicles. The proposed controller distributes drive/brake torque between the four wheels to achieve the desired handling response and, in addition, intervenes in the longitudinal dynamics in cases where the turning radius demand is infeasible at the speed at which the

Nonlinear model predictive torque control for IC engines
Proceeding of the 11th World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation, 2014This paper presents a model predictive online optimization scheme for the engine torque control problem. The control-oriented model is based on the intake air charging dynamics and torque generation model which are derived from the mean value model. In order to reduce the tracking error induce by the insufficient accurate predictive model, an embedded ...

Efficiency-optimized Model Predictive Torque Control for IPMSM
2014 IEEE International Energy Conference (ENERGYCON), 2014Model Predictive Control (MPC) offers a variety of advantages compared to conventional control methods. A MPC includes a process model of the system to be controlled. Based on this model the controller determines the optimal actuating variable for future timesteps in every sampling step.
