Potential Early Risk Biomarkers for Reduced Forced Expiratory Volume in Children Post‐Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.

Prediction of stocks: a new way to look at it. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
While the traditional $R^{2}$ value is useful to evaluate the quality of a fit, it does not work when it comes to evaluating the predictive power of estimated financial models in finite samples. In this paper we introduce a validated $R_{V}^{2}$ value

Psychosocial Outcomes in Patients With Endocrine Tumor Syndromes: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The combination of disease manifestations, the familial burden, and varying penetrance of endocrine tumor syndromes (ETSs) is unique. This review aimed to portray and summarize available data on psychosocial outcomes in patients with ETSs and explore gaps and opportunities for future research and care.

Predictive value of 18F-FDG PET/CT for evaluating the response to hypofractionated radiotherapy combined with PD-1 blockade in non-small cell lung cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
PurposeThis retrospective study aimed to investigate 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG)-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) as a predictor of response to hypofractionated radiotherapy (HFRT) combined with programmed cell death-1 (PD-1)

Prior-predictive value from fast growth simulations

open access: yes, 2007
Building on a variant of the Jarzynski equation we propose a new method to numerically determine the prior-predictive value in a Bayesian inference problem.

Predictive biometrics: A review and analysis of predicting personal characteristics from biometric data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Interest in the exploitation of soft biometrics information has continued to develop over the last decade or so. In comparison with traditional biometrics, which focuses principally on person identification, the idea of soft biometrics processing is to ...

The predictive value of ICD-10 diagnostic coding used to assess Charlson comorbidity index conditions in the population-based Danish National Registry of Patients

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology, 2011
BackgroundThe Charlson comorbidity index is often used to control for confounding in research based on medical databases. There are few studies of the accuracy of the codes obtained from these databases. We examined the positive predictive value (PPV) of ...

Prior-predictive value from fast-growth simulations: Error analysis and bias estimation

open access: yes, 2014
Variants of fluctuation theorems recently discovered in the statistical mechanics of non-equilibrium processes may be used for the efficient determination of high-dimensional integrals as typically occurring in Bayesian data analysis.
