Preemergence signatures of horizontal divergent flows in solar active regions
Solar active regions (ARs) play a fundamental role in driving many of the geoeffective eruptions, which propagate into the solar system. However, we are still unable to consistently predict where and when ARs will occur across the solar disk by ...

Row middle herbicide programs for plasticulture vegetables using targeted herbicide applications
In plasticulture production, smart-spray technology can detect weeds and apply herbicides only where needed in the area between raised, plastic-covered beds (row middle). This technology has the potential to reduce herbicide use and lower input costs.

Selectivity of Saflufenacil for Sweet Sorghum and Potential use of Na-Bentazon as a Safener [PDF]
The objective of this study was to assess the selectivity herbicide saflufenacil for two sweet sorghum hybrids, when sprayed in preemergence and postemergence, besides the use of Na-bentazon as a 'safener' for saflufenacil.

Ornamental plant safety and weed control with indaziflam
Indaziflam was evaluated in Connecticut and Tennessee for weed control and safety of container-grown ornamental plants. Indaziflam was applied at 49, 98, or 196 g ha−1 to container-grown ornamental plants on an outdoor gravel pad and also applied ...

Weed Control in Corn and Soybean with Group 15 (VLCFA Inhibitor) Herbicides Applied Preemergence
Limited information exists on the efficacy of pethoxamid for annual grass and broadleaf control in corn and soybean in Ontario. A total of 10 field experiments (5 with corn and 5 with soybean) were conducted during 2015 to 2017 in Ontario, Canada, to ...

Large crabgrass and Texas panicum control with Group 15 herbicides applied preemergence
Gramineous weeds have become increasingly problematic in field crops over the past decade, especially in crops without herbicide tolerance traits, making effective management of them more challenging.

Abstract Barnyardgrass [Echinochloa crus‐galli (L.) P. Beauv.] is the most problematic weed of delayed‐flooded rice (Oryza sativa L.) systems in the mid‐southern United States. Recent findings suggest that acetochlor can achieve effective barnyardgrass control in rice, but rice injury can occur with rainfall soon after application.

Preemergence Herbicides, Dry Soils and Rain
The potential for continued dry weather across the state raises concerns about the impact of dry soils on preemergence herbicides. Preemergence herbicides kill weeds by being absorbed into the seed as the seed imbibes water.

Weed control in melon with preemergence herbicides
The objective of this work was to evaluate the effectiveness and selectivity of herbicides applied at preemergence to the melon (Cucumis melo) crop. The experiments were carried out from 2017 to 2018, in a randomized complete block design, with four ...
