Pregnancy rates with bisected bovine embryos

A method for producing identical twin calves is described in which 5.5 to 7.5 day bovine embryos were bisected using a fine microsurgical blade. The resulting demi-embryos were transferred surgically or nonsurgically to the uterine horn ipsilateral to the corpus luteum of synchronous recipients (+/- 2 days), one demi-embryo per recipient.

SummaryContinuous records of fetal heart rate were made weekly during the last trimester of 15 normal pregnancies. Using an ultrasonic technique, a total of 124 records, each lasting 50 minutes, was obtained. With increasing length of gestation there was a small but significant reduction in mean heart rate and an increase in beat‐to‐beat variation.

Pregnancy rates after laparoscopy for infertility

To obtain prognostic data on the likelihood of pregnancy in infertile women with no observable abnormalities at diagnostic laparoscopy, the occurrence of pregnancy was studied in a series of 229 patients. The cumulative conception rate during a follow-up period of at most 5 yr was 50%.

Pregnancy loss rate in equine uterine body pregnancies

There is scant information on the outcome of uterine body pregnancies in the mare, but anecdotal evidence indicates that most result in abortion. In a retrospective study of 3527 pathology records from the Livestock Disease and Diagnostic Center, University of Kentucky, 10 aborted fetuses were associated with body pregnancies.
