Utilization of rice husk resources, the typical agricultural wastes, has attracted great interest. In this study, rice husk was used as raw material for synthesis of the magnetic nanofibers/porous carbon composites (M-NPCCs) through pyrolysis of ...

Preload and Isometric Force Variability
Journal of Motor Behavior, 1990Two experiments are reported, which examined the relative contributions of preload (resting force level), change of force, and the time taken to achieve the force in determining isometric force variability. The findings showed that change of force is the strongest determiner of peak force variability but that preload and time to peak force have smaller

Preload is the “load before the heart”. It is determined by the venous retum and is entirely dependent on intravascular volemia. Preload is measured during the end-diastole; it is defined as “the force acting to stretch the left ventricular fibers at the end of diastole and to determine the maximal resting lengths of the sarcomeres”.

Perioperative haemodynamic care of patients aims at maintaining an adequate oxygen supply to the tissues. In the presence of sufficient oxygen carrying capacity in the blood, tissue oxygen delivery will mainly depend on cardiac output. The determinants of cardiac output are heart rate, the ventricular loading conditions (preload and afterload) and the ...

Determining the preload in preloaded bolt assemblies in existing steel structures
Steel Construction, 2017AbstractPreloaded bolts are used to achieve slip‐resistant shear connections. The actual preload force in each bolt has a direct influence on the fatigue and slip resistance of the connection. The strain gauge method is examined for practical assessment of the actual preload because its use is no longer limited by the demands on adhesive curing ...

Preloaded Insulin Syringes for the Blind
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1981ABSTRACT To the Editor.— In a recent issue of JAMA, Murry G. Fischer, MD (1980;244:548), describes a method of preloading insulin syringes for unreliable diabetics. We have used this method for some time in blind diabetics who live alone or have an ineffective caretaker.

Venous modulation of ventricular preload
American Heart Journal, 1992The objective of this discussion has been to describe a simple conceptual model of the circulation that emphasizes the role of the venous capacitance vasculature and is based on simplified vascular pressure-volume relationships. First, it is hoped that this approach will avoid some of the misunderstandings and contradictions that have resulted from an ...
