Dose-finding study of triptorelin acetate for prevention of a premature LH surge in IVF: a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. [PDF]

open access: yesHuman Reproduction, 2000
Gonadotrophin-releasing hormone agonists (GnRHa) are routinely used in IVF programmes to prevent an unwanted LH surge and consequent ovulation. Despite its widespread use in IVF, a convincing dose recommendation for GnRHa in IVF does not exist. In our opinion, the lowest possible dose of GnRHa should be used.

Safety and efficacy of a 3 mg dose of the GnRH antagonist cetrorelix in preventing premature LH surges: report of two large multicentre, multinational, phase IIIb clinical experiences

Reproductive BioMedicine Online, 2003
Gonadotrophin-releasing hormone antagonists are effective and safe in preventing premature LH surges, a leading cause of cycle cancellation or failure during assisted conception. Two studies assessed two administration regimens for cetrorelix (as Cetrotide): the multiple-dose (MD, 0.25 mg/day, n = 1066) and single-dose (SD, 3 mg, n = 541) protocols ...

Combined clomiphene citrate (CC) and human menopausal gonadotropins (hMG) in a fixed schedule for follicular recruitment during in vitro fertilization: Effects on premature luteinizing hormone (LH) surges

Journal of In Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer, 1989
Recognizing the association between plasma progesterone (P) and an imminent LH surge, we investigated the frequency of P elevation in our stimulation protocol (clomiphene citrate-human menopausal gonadotropins). P was measured retrospectively on the day before, the day of, and the day after human chorionic gonadotropin hCG administration. The means +/-

Comparison of progesterone protocol versus gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist protocol in terms of preventing premature LH surge and assisted reproductive technology outcome in infertile women: a randomized controlled trial

Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics
Progesterone can be used instead of GnRH agonists and antagonists in order to avert a premature LH surge during controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) protocol. Nonetheless, there is limited knowledge regarding its utilization. Thus, this study compared the effects of progesterone and GnRH antagonists (GnRH-ant) on premature LH surges and assisted ...

[GnRH antagonist (Orgalutran) for prevention of premature LH surges during controlled ovarian hyperstimulation].

Akusherstvo i ginekologiia, 2002
The author present a different stimulation regiment in assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs). Gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist (GnRH-antagonist) introduces a new treatment option for patients undergoing ovarian stimulation for IVF or ICSI. This protocol is safe (with reduction of OHSS risk), short and simple.
