본 연구는 어머니의 의도적 통제와 양육행동, 유아의 의도적 통제와 사회적 유능성 간의 관계를 살펴보고, 어머니의 의도적 통제가 유아의 사회적 유능성으로 가는 경로에서 어머니의 양육행동과 유아의 의도적 통제의 매개적 영향을 살펴보는 것을 주목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 만 4-5세 유아 174명과 그들의 어머니를 대상으로 연구를 실시하였으며, 어머니가 자신의 의도적 통제와 양육행동, 유아의 의도적 통제와 사회적 유능성을 보고하였다.
