Weak-strong uniqueness for volume-preserving mean curvature flow [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
In this note, we derive a stability and weak-strong uniqueness principle for volume-preserving mean curvature flow. The proof is based on a new notion of volume-preserving gradient flow calibrations, which is a natural extension of the concept in the case without volume preservation recently introduced by Fischer et al. [arXiv:2003.05478].

Functionally-fitted energy-preserving integrators for Poisson systems [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Computational Physics, 364 (2018) 137-152, 2017
In this paper, a new class of energy-preserving integrators is proposed and analysed for Poisson systems by using functionally-fitted technology. The integrators exactly preserve energy and have arbitrarily high order. It is shown that the proposed approach allows us to obtain the energy-preserving methods derived in BIT 51 (2011) by Cohen and Hairer ...

pp-waves in 11-dimensions with extra supersymmetry [PDF]

open access: yesJHEP 0206 (2002) 013, 2002
The Killing spinor equations for pp-wave solutions of eleven dimensional supergravity are analysed and it is shown that there are solutions that preserve 18,20,22 and 24 supersymmetries, in addition to the generic solution preserving 16 supersymmetries and the Kowalski-Glikman solution preserving 32 supersymmetries.

New solutions in organ preservation

open access: yesTransplantation Reviews, 2002
Over the last 20 years, a number of methods and solutions have been developed to preserve donor organs for transplantation. Collins et al first introduced the simple cold-storage technique to store and transport kidneys up to 30 hours. The development of the University of Wisconsin cold-storage solution (UW-CSS) in 1986 improved organ preservation and ...

A Comparison of the Preservation of Mouse Adipose Tissue-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Using the University of Wisconsin Solution and Hank’s Balanced Salt Solution

open access: yesStem Cells International, 2018
Preservation of adipose tissue before the isolation of cells is one of the most important steps in maintaining the cell viability of adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs) for clinical use.

Assessment of reagent effectiveness and preservation methods for equine faecal samples [PDF]

open access: yesMacedonian Veterinary Review, 2015
The aim of our study was to identify the most suitable flotation solution and effective preservation method for the examination of equine faeces samples using the FLOTAC technique. Samples from naturally infected horses were transported to the laboratory

Constraint-satisfying Krylov solvers for structure-preserving discretisations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
A key consideration in the development of numerical schemes for time-dependent partial differential equations (PDEs) is the ability to preserve certain properties of the continuum solution, such as associated conservation laws or other geometric structures of the solution.
