Nonlinear optomechanical pressure
A transparent material exhibits ultra-fast optical nonlinearity and is subject to optical pressure if irradiated by a laser beam. However, the effect of nonlinearity on optical pressure is often overlooked, even if a nonlinear optical pressure may be ...

We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

Scaling relations in the collapse of elastic icosadeltahedral shells under uniform external pressure [PDF]
We discuss collapse of icosadeltahedral shells subjected to uniform external pressure. We demonstrate that there is a universal collapse pressure curve. The parameter that uniquely determines the collapse pressure is shown to be the Foppl-von Karman number of the non-pressurized shells.

Breast tumor samples scored for metabolic deregulation (M1 to M3) were given a hypoxia score (HS). The highest HS occurred in patients with strongest metabolic deregulation (M3), supporting tumor aggressiveness. HS correlated with the highest number of metabolic pathways in M1. This suggests hypoxia to be an early event in metabolic deregulation.

Comparative magnetotransport and Tc measurements on kappa-(BEDT-TTF)2Cu(SCN)2 under pressure [PDF]
We compare magnetotransport measurements under pressure on the organic superconductor $\kappa$-(BEDT-TTF)$_{2}$Cu(SCN)$_{2}$ with different pressure-media and discover that the results are pressure media dependent. This pressure-medium dependence is thought to originate from the difference in thermal contraction between the very soft and highly ...

Creative Pressure Tactics [PDF]
[Excerpt] Saul Alinsky, a great labor and community organizer, once said that “tactics that drag on become a drag.” Stewards know that tactics used too often can lose their effectiveness and burn members out.

Tempus Fugit: Time Pressure in Risky Decisions [PDF]
We study the effects of time pressure on risky decisions for pure gain prospects, pure loss prospects, and mixed prospects involving both gains and losses.

Crosstalk between gut microbiota and tumor: tumors could cause gut dysbiosis and metabolic imbalance
In this research, we analyzed the relationship between gut microbiota and tumor. We discovered that both subcutaneous and metastatic tumors would alter the composition and metabolic function of gut microbiota. Meanwhile, fecal microbiota transplantation also indicated the anti‐tumor role of the gut microbiota, revealing the crosstalk between tumor and ...
