Numerical simulation of low-pulsation gerotor pumps for use in the pharmaceutical industry and in biomedicine

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering, 2015
The reduction of the pulsation of flow and pressure as well as the increase of the mean flow of a displacement pump will be a benefit to many technical processes, especially in the pharmaceutical industry and in biomedicine.

Stress intensity factors of partially compressed centrally cracked disk with frictional crack surfaces

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2023
This work analytically calculates mixed-mode I/II stress intensity factors for an inclined central frictional crack in a Brazilian disc partially compressed with a uniform pressure. Wide-range controlling parameters are invoked.

A new connection between the opening angle and the large-scale morphology of extragalactic radio sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In the case of an initially conical jet, we study the relation between jet collimation by the external pressure and large-scale morphology. We first consider the important length-scales in the problem, and then carry out axisymmetric hydrodynamic ...

Incident Open-Angle Glaucoma and Ocular Perfusion Pressure [PDF]

open access: yesInvestigative Opthalmology & Visual Science, 2011
The purpose of this letter is to provide corrections to a recent paper from the Rotterdam Eye Study,1 which evaluated the relationship between incident open-angle glaucoma (OAG) and ocular perfusion pressure (OPP). After adjustment for intraocular pressure (IOP), the researchers failed to find significant associations with OPP, concluding that the ...

Nocturnal blood pressure in primary open‐angle glaucoma [PDF]

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, 2015
AbstractPurposeTo evaluate the nocturnal blood pressure (BP) dipping‐pattern in patients with manifest primary open‐angle glaucoma (POAG) and to find possible associations with the severity of visual field damage.MethodsA number of 314 patients suffering from POAG were consecutively enrolled in this cross‐sectional hospital‐based study.

Method to calculate active earth pressure considering soil arching effect under nonlimit state of clay

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2020
By taking the limited range of clay behind the retaining wall as the research object, considering soil arching effect under non-limit state, and adopting the angle of the fracture surface obtained by the plastic upper limit theory and the variation law ...

Tooth Profile Construction Method with Double Pressure Angles for High Performance Gear Pumps

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2023
In order to achieve high comprehensive performance for external gear pumps, a tooth profile construction method with working pressure angles greater than non-working pressure angles is invented. From parameters analysis of tooth profiles without undercut

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
