Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Effect of Drive Side Pressure Angle and Addendum on Mesh Stiffness of the Gears with Low and High Contact Ratios

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Gears are one of the most important machine elements widely used to transmit motion and power in various machines. The gear tooth stiffness has a significant impact on the load distribution, vibration characteristics, and overall efficiency of gear ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Investigating the Coupling Effect of High Pressure and Hot Air on External Friction Angle Based on Resistance Reduction Tests on Subsoiling Tillage Tools for Sandy Clay Loam

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
Sandy clay loam has the characteristics of both sand and clay. Because of these characteristics, both frictional resistance and adhesive resistance occur between the soil and tillage tool.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Pengaruh Woven Angle dan Proses Penekanan terhadap Tegangan Tarik pada Natural Fiber Laminate Composite

open access: yesRekayasa Mesin, 2019
The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of pressure and woven angle on the tensile strength of natural fiber laminate composite. Pandanus tectorius and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) was used as natural fiber and matrix, respectively.

Analytical and Numerical Contact Stress Analysis of Spur Gears

open access: yesScience, Engineering and Technology, 2023
The damage that occurs on the teeth flank of cylindrical gears is a complex phenomenon and depends on many factors. The most common cause for these damages is the high contact stress of the meshing gears.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...
