Moderators of the Effects of Exercise and Manual Therapy for People With Knee and Hip Osteoarthritis: A Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to investigate potential moderators influencing the effects of manual therapy and exercise therapy on pain and functional outcomes in individuals with knee and/or hip osteoarthritis, using data from the MOA trial. This is a secondary analysis of data from the MOA trial that compares the clinical effectiveness of manual ...

Wind Tunnel Experiment and Numerical Simulation of Secondary Flow Systems on a Supersonic Wing

open access: yesAerospace
Aircraft secondary flow systems are small-flow circulation devices that are used for thermal and cold management, flow control, and energy generation on aircraft. The aerodynamic characteristics of main-flow-based inlets have been widely studied, but the

Biopsychosocial Determinants of Hand Function and Its Trajectories Over Five Years in Patients With Hand Osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to investigate hand function trajectories over five years in primary hand osteoarthritis (OA). Additionally, determinants of baseline and longitudinal hand function were assessed. Methods A total of 538 patients with both baseline and five‐year study visits were analyzed.

DISTORTION OF 16MnCr5 STEEL PARTS DURING LOW-PRESSURE CARBURIZING

open access: yes, 2017
One of the many advantages of low pressure carburizing (LPC) is that it can be combined with high-pressure gas quenching. This makes it possible to achieve workpieces with pure metallic surfaces, less distortion hardening, and, above all, it allows a ...

Development of a Method for Enhanced Fan Representation in Gas Turbine Modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A challenge in civil aviation future propulsion systems is expected to be the integration with the airframe, coming as a result of increasing bypass ratio or above wing installations for noise mitigation. The resulting highly distorted inlet flows to the

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Pressure Pulse Distortion by Needle and Fiber Optic Hydrophones due to Nonuniform Sensitivity

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2018
Needle and fiber-optic hydrophones have frequency-dependent sensitivity, which can result in substantial distortion of nonlinear or broadband pressure pulses.

Distortion product otoacoustic emissions: challenging existing theory

open access: yes, 2010
Distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE or DP) are generated using two primary tones at frequencies f1 and f2 at levels L1 and L2; the two most prominent DP are cubic distortion products at the frequencies 2f1f2 and 2f2f1.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

An Efficient Approach for Identification of the Inlet Distortion of Engine Based on Acoustic Emission Technique

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Effective and accurate diagnosis of engine health is key to ensuring the safe operation of engines. Inlet distortion is due to the flow or the pressure variations.
