TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Pressure mapping of medical compression bandages used for venous leg ulcer treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Chronic leg ulcers affect 1% of the adult population in the developed countries. The majority of leg ulcers are due to venous disease. The impact of venous ulcers on the quality of life is significant, and it costs the NHS £300 − 600m annually.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Design, Fabrication, and Implementation of a Wireless, Passive Implantable Pressure Sensor Based on Magnetic Higher-Order Harmonic Fields

open access: yesBiosensors, 2011
A passive and wireless sensor was developed for monitoring pressure in vivo. Structurally, the pressure sensor, referred to as the magneto-harmonic pressure sensor, is an airtight chamber sealed with an elastic pressure membrane.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Design of Intelligent Pressure Sensor Based on PSO‑BP Temperature Compensation Algorithm

open access: yesNanjing Hangkong Hangtian Daxue Xuebao
Pressure is an important physical signal that characterizes the operating performance of aero-engine. A design based on PSO-BP temperature compensation algorithm for intelligent pressure sensor is proposed for the high-precision measurement requirement ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Fabrication of a sensitive pressure sensor using carbon nanotube micro-yarns

open access: yes, 2017
Developing flexible pressure sensors is of high interest in soft skin and tactile sensing applications. Here we demonstrate a simple approach to fabricating a sensitive resistive pressure sensor using carbon nanotube (CNT) micro-yarns as a pressure ...
