Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

A Minimalist and Garantistic Conception of the Presumption of Innocence

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Direito Processual Penal, 2018
The article aims to address the multiple faces that the presumption of innocence incorporates in modern legal systems from a critical perspective. In this sense, an analytical methodology seeks to demonstrate that some of these faces overlap with other ...

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Pretpostavka nevinosti okrivljenog kao element prava na pravično suđenje [PDF]

open access: yesRevija za kriminologiju i krivično pravo
Although the presumption of innocence has its roots in the rational criminal procedure of the ancient times, it should still be seen as a result of the modern criminal procedure system, i.e.

False Presumptions Counter to the Presumptions of Innocence

open access: yesJournal of the American Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology, 1917
American criminal procedure is condemned as ineffective, because delay and technicality intervene on behalf of the accused. The sanction of the law is neither swift nor inexorable. Not only do "the wicked flee where no man pursueth," but the prisoner enmeshed is preserved from punishment by over-sedulous respect for his rights. Mr.

The Comparative Analysis on the Presumption of Cartel Agreements Which is Unique in the Korean Cartel Regulation Provision [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In terms of cartel regulation, Korea has a “presumption of agreement” provision that does not exist in the United States or in the European Union (EU). This provision is Article 19(5) of the Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act (MRFTA).

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

The Fallacy of Misplaced Presumption

open access: yesArgumentation, 2023
One takes one's word that p when a source vouches for p and one accepts the word of that source. If the source is reliable in this case, p is acceptable. The reliability of the source is a measure of its plausibility. If a source has the relevant competence, credibility, authority, that word is acceptable.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Renewing adjustment of the conception of Serra Domínguez on the evidence and the presumption

open access: yesArs Iuris Salmanticensis, 2019
