Pan-cancer analysis reveals intratumoral microbial diversity in multiple cancers by amplicon technology

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology
Despite numerous studies investigating intratumoral microorganisms and their significant roles in cancer initiation, progression, and treatment efficacy, a systematic understanding of intratumoral microorganisms remains lacking.

Multi‐omics reveals gastrointestinal metabolic disorder‐induced diarrhea in postpartum dairy cows

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Nutritional diarrhea is a pervasive, costly challenge in dairy production. Using integrated metagenomic and metabolomic profiling, we identified coordinated microbial and metabolic alterations across the rumen, hindgut, and serum. In the rumen, enrichment of Prevotella sp.

Prevotella and Porphyromonas infections in children [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology, 1995
From 1974 to 1994, 504 isolates of Prevotella and Porphyromonas spp. were obtained from 435 (21%) of 2033 specimens from 418 children. They included 160 (32%) Pr. melaninogenica, 105 (21%) Pr. intermedia, 84 (17%) P. asaccharolytica, 58 (12%) Pr. orisbuccae, and 58 (12%) Pr. oralis. Most Prevotella and Porphyromonas spp.

Prevotella amnii sp nov., isolated from human amniotic fluid

open access: yes, 2008
Two Gram-negative, anaerobic, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped organisms were isolated from human amniotic fluid. Based on morphological and biochemical criteria, the strains were tentatively identified as Bacteroidaceae but they did not appear to ...

Multi‐omics–driven precision medicine

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
Multi‐omics‐driven precision medicine (MODPM) provides a multiscale, continuously learnable framework that integrates genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, microbiome profiles, and clinical data. Powered by artificial intelligence and foundation models, MODPM enables cross‐modal representation learning, contextual modeling ...

Temporal dynamics and species-level complexity of Prevotella spp. in the human gut microbiota: implications for enterotypes and health

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
The concept of “enterotypes” in microbiome research has attracted substantial interest, particularly focusing on the abundance of Prevotella spp. in the human gut. In this study, the intricate dynamics of Prevotella spp.

Gut Enterococcus faecium derived leucic acid mediates the antiobesity effect of dietary fiber

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
This study identified Enterococcus faecium as a gut bacterium with anti‐obesity activity, which alleviated adipocyte hypertrophy, dyslipidemia, and hepatic steatosis by converting leucine into leucic acid (LEA) to regulate mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation.

Possible potentiation of toxins from Prevotella intermedia, Prevotella nigrescens, and Porphyromonas gingivalis by cotinine

open access: yes, 1999
Background: Smoking is a recognized risk factor for the initiation and progression of periodontitis. However, the mechanism by which smoking induces its negative effects on the periodontium is not clear.
