Pleistocene Glaciation on St. George, Pribilof Islands
Science, 1966A small ice cap (covering about 12 square kilometers) and at least two—probably four—cirque glaciers (each covering less than 1 square kilometer) occurred on St. George Island, Pribilof Islands, probably during the Illinoian Glaciation. Snowbanks persisted during a later cold cycle, probably during the Wisconsin Glaciation, with no glaciers existing ...

Genetic variation in the Aleuts of the Pribilof Islands and the Eskimos of Kodiak Island
AbstractA sample of Aleuts residing in the Pribilof Islands of St. Paul (N = 163) and St. George (N = 62) and Eskimo residents of Kodiak Island (N = 294) have been typed for genetic variation at 31 discrete genetic markers. Of these, 16 were polymorphic and 15 were monomorphic.

Responses of piscivorous seabirds at the Pribilof Islands to ocean climate
Deep Sea Research Part II: Topical Studies in Oceanography, 2008Climate variability and change are expected to influence the seasonal cycle in North Pacific sub-arctic marine ecosystems. The hypothesis that timing of nesting and productivity of piscivorous seabirds [kittiwakes (Rissa tridactyla and Rissa brevirostris) and murres (Uria aalge and Uria lomvia)] at the Pribilof Islands are related to variation in ocean

A Dovekie on the Pribilof Islands, Alaska
The Condor, 1968Until recently, the only record of the Dovekie (Plautus alle) in Alaska was of one specimen taken in 1935 near Point Barrow (Gabrielson and Lincoln, Birds of Alaska, 1959). In 1965, however, B6dard (Condor 68:503506, 1966) collected one Dovekie and sighted four more among the large concentrations of colonial sea birds on St.

Geomagnetic Polarity Epochs: Pribilof Islands, Alaska
Geological Society of America Bulletin, 1966A comparison was made between geologic, radiometric, and paleomagnetic methods of dating and stratigraphic correlation on the Pribilof Islands of Alaska. Age relationships based on geomorphology and paleontology agree with those determined using potassium-argon dating and paleomagnetic reversals, permitting the following synthesis of the geologic and ...
