Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Dry Running Bellows Type Tandem Seals For VOC Services [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Lecturepg. 83Dry running bellows seal technology, where the secondary (outer) seal operates in a dry condition, was originally developed in the UK and Europe for protection against primary seal failure. Over the past three years, it has been successfully

Maximum Throughput for a Cognitive Radio Multi-Antenna User with Multiple Primary Users

open access: yesCoRR, 2014
We investigate a cognitive radio scenario involving a single cognitive transmitter equipped with $\mathcal{K}$ antennas sharing the spectrum with $\mathcal{M}$ primary users (PUs) transmitting over orthogonal bands. Each terminal has a queue to store its incoming traffic.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Rolling Bearings In Centrifugal Pumps [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Tutorialpg. 91The primary considerations for the selection and application of rolling bearings in centrifugal pumps are discussed. These considerations apply to both the pump manufacturer and the pump user. The various types of bearings used in different

An Active Cooperation-Aware Spectrum Allocation Mechanism for Body Sensor Networks

open access: yesSensors, 2015
A cognitive radio-based spectrum allocation scheme using an active cooperative-aware mechanism is proposed in this paper. The scheme ensures that the primary user and secondary users cooperate actively for their own benefits.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

High Temperature Twin Screw Pumps [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Tutorialpg. 139High temperature applications present many engineering problems. Thermal growth of piping and vessels, coupled with typically lower viscosities at high temperature, has made centerline mounted centrifugal pumps the primary choice in hot ...
