Prime Percolation

open access: yesExperimental Mathematics, 1998
This paper examines the question of whether there is an unbounded walk of bounded step size along Gaussian primes. Percolation theory predicts that for a low enough density of random Gaussian integers no walk exists, which suggests that no such walk exists along prime numbers, since they have arbitrarily small density over large enough regions.

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Critical Sets and Unavoidable Sets of Strictly Concentric Magic Squares of Odd Order and Their Application to Prime Strictly Concentric Magic Squares of Order 5

open access: yesAxioms
There has been much interest in the mathematical investigation of critical sets and unavoidable sets in Latin Squares, Sudoku, and their applications to practical problems in areas such as agriculture and cryptology.

Explaining the DAMPE data with scalar dark matter and gauged $U(1)_{L_e-L_\mu}$ interaction

open access: yes, 2018
Inspired by the peak structure observed by recent DAMPE experiment in $e^+e^-$ cosmic-ray spectrum, we consider a scalar dark matter (DM) model with gauged $U(1)_{L_e-L_\mu}$ symmetry, which is the most economical anomaly-free theory to potentially ...

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

On Zero-Symmetric Left Centrally Prime Near-Rings [PDF]

open access: yesKirkuk Journal of Science, 2007
Our aim in this paper is: to give some properties of zero-symmetric left centrally prime near-rings, then looking for those conditions which make zero-symmetric left centrally prime near-rings abelian, so that several conditions are given under which ...

Current practices of waste management in teaching hospitals and presence of incinerators in densely populated areas

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2021
Background Hospital waste management (HWM) practices are the core need to run a proper health care facility. This study encompasses the HWM practices in teaching hospitals of Peshawar, Pakistan and examine the enforcement of Pak HWM (2005) rules and ...

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...
